Recently I was at the out patient department when suddenly an young man in his mid 20’s was wheeled in at the emergency department. He was in obvious pain; sweating and he couldn’t keep his calm. So I decided to share this useful info about penile fractures.
Penile fractures are not common the statistics show 1:100,000

Penile fracture is caused by blunt force, when your penis is erect and it hits something hard and bends. Common causes are:
-Sexual activity with a partner. Penile fracture can happen when your penis slips out of your partner and thrusts against the area between the anus and the perineum or the pelvic bone.
-Energetic masturbation.
-Falling onto your erection, rolling over onto your erection or hitting your erect penis against a wall or door in a dark room among other causes.
Current treatment recommendations for penile fractures are for immediate surgical exploration and repair; proper surgical repair requires evacuation of the hematoma, identification of the tunica injury, local corpora debridement, closure of the tunica lacerations, and ligation of any disrupted vasculature.
